Veja (pronounced Vay-Jah) is based in Paris, France, but manufactured in South Brazil, an interesting location if you’re unaware of the region. Made with completely natural ecological materials – organic cotton, wild rubber, ecological leather, and recycled plastic bottles, annual production is limited in order to not burden the environment – something we all could do well in learning from. Even better, over 80% of their Brazilian workforce is unionized, and their logistics are handled by Ateliers Sans Frontières, a French association which enables people who have been unemployed to return to the workforce through training.
All the “good stuff” aside, Veja has a classic sneaker silhouette that’s perfect for any attire. Put them on with shorts, skirts, or dresses, and you’re good to go. Pair them with jeans, pants, or even a suit, and the style is nothing less than perfect. Found in less than 30 stores in the US, these are shoes that every knows if they see them, and everyone wants if they find them.
